If your website is relevant to my readers’ interests (in other words, to my interests – lifestyle change for health, mind techniques for personal change, and hypnotherapy), you can request a review from me. Just email me: mikerm at hypno dot co dot nz.
I also accept books (and other informational products such as DVDs and audio recordings) for review, but you need to query first using the same email address. Obviously, you need to send me a copy of the book or whatever it is, rather than just a press release saying how great it is. I will give you my postal address if I agree to do the review.
Please note that I blog at the scientific end of hypnotherapy and health, not the “metaphysical” or “New Age” end.
I don’t have a high opinion of most health products – my emphasis is on achieving better health without products – so I will not review your non-information product. Please don’t ask.
A simple test for borderline cases is: Could this product conceivably be turned into digital form (whether it actually is digital or not)? If it couldn’t, I’m not going to review it.
I will respond to requests for reviews in one of three ways:
1. If your website (book, DVD etc.) obviously isn’t relevant to my interests, or if you have not followed the above guidelines in some other way, I will ignore your request as spam.
2. If your website (etc.) is trying to sell or promote a product, service or viewpoint which I consider harmful or ineffective, is making what I consider to be unsupported, false or misleading claims, is very badly put together, consists largely of over-the-top marketing hype, or just doesn’t enthuse me, I will respond to you clarifying why I won’t be reviewing it. You wouldn’t want a review from me if this is the case. Please take my response in the spirit it’s meant: What I’m saying is not that you’re a terrible person, but that I can’t give your website a positive review because of my (subjective, individual) opinion of it. Arguing about it will only annoy me; I will not change my decision.
3. If I like at least something your website (etc.) is doing, I will give you a review saying that. I reserve the right to offer critique as well if I think there are things which could be improved or if I disagree with you on some points, but it will basically be a positive review.
For examples of my reviews to date, please look at the reviews category.
