I use the following, with cookies and JavaScript, to track what pages are being accessed on my site:
I do not analyse the behaviour of individual users or attempt to identify you personally. I am interested only in knowing how people are using my site in general and what they are looking for, so that I can make it more relevant and useful to everyone.
In other words, if you’re doing something different from everyone else I’m not going to pay much attention to what you do. If you do things much the same as everyone else, I’m going to look at the group rather than you as an individual.
I also use cookies to enable my customers to log in so that they can access protected content on the site. This is to prevent people who haven’t paid from accessing that content.
